University of Connecticut
The UConn Huskies are nothing short of a dynasty when it comes to college basketball. The Huskies own a combined 14 NCAA Championships between its men’s and women’s basketball teams. It could have something to do with luck, as UConn students are known to rub the nose of the Jonathan the Husky statue on campus before big games. Or it could be from intimidation, as the student section’s raucous “U! C! O! N! N!” chant can easily drown out opposing teams visiting Gampel Pavilion.

Style Facts:
Since 1934, Jonathan the Husky has been the beloved face of UConn athletics. Named after Connecticut’s Revolutionary War-era governor Jonathan Trumbull, there have been five different depictions of Jonathan the Husky through the years. After a rebranding in 2013, Jonathan was given his new look to more closely resemble a Siberian Husky than the previous all-white dog. Along with the fierce new look of Jonathan, the University of Connecticut decided to adopt the word mark “UCONN” for all its athletic team uniforms.
